I felt that the Jurong Island Trip was beneficial for me. I got to know more about the Island itself as well as the various companies and organizations that had set up their factories there.
Previously the only thing I knew about Jurong Island was that it is made up of seven islands, and was formed through land reclamation. However through the trip I got to know the names of the Seven Islands: Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kecil, Pulau Sakra and Pulau Seraya
*Correct me if I have any spelling mistakes.*
I learned more about the types of companies which sets up their factories there, and what do those factories produce. For example some of the companies with their factories there are: ExxonMobil, Shell and Mitsui Chemicals.
Most factories found at Jurong Island are developing/producing stuff like Oil, Petrochemicals and chemicals.
The Chem Gallery was a place with lots of information about the Island and about Natural Resources. It showcases the different types of processes which natural resources like crude oil needs to go through. This increases my knowledge about Crude Oil, about the different compounds which can be obtained from Crude Oil.
The Chem Gallery also shows me what are the safety precautions found at the Island. For example – There are two fire stations available at the Island. There are firefighting water found in red pipes.
I also know more about how materials are transported in the island through a network of pipelines.
Overall it was a fun and interesting trip. It was Worth the time.

I feel that the trip to jurong island was very educational as i learnt that crude oil extracted from the earth is made up of many compounds. The different plants in jurong island are also linked by pipes, so that they are able to use each other's products for their own processes.

I felt that the Jurong Island trip was educational. The tour helped me to know more about the oil refineries situated in the Island and the storage of different chemical substances in the tanks.
I learned that seven islands make up the Jurong Island. Some of the different companies are situated closely to one another as the different substances are sent through the pipes to form a new compound such as hydrocarbon. This method allows a more convenient purpose.
Furthermore, I was able to know more about the different elements and its characteristics from the Chem Gallery. I learned about how they inject steam into the fumes in the flare tower to make the fumes smokeless.
Also, it was fascinating that oil is sent over from Indonesia which is quite a distance from Singapore through the underwater pipeline. The trip was indeed interesting and I learned a lot from it.

Learning Journey to Jurong Island was a beneficial and very educational one. It made me realise the importance of this island and all on the island for the survival of Singapore's economy.
My favourite thing there is the three dimensional periodic table. If our school can set up a Chem gallery like theirs, i believe learning process of Chemistry will be more fun-filled and interesting.
I hope that there will be more of similar Learning Journey.

There! 80 words reflection ((: Just kidding!
After visiting the Chem Gallery at Jurong Island, I feel that everyone is trying their best to SAVE THE EARTH! I thought the heavy industries were environment unfriendly but I was surprised to know that they had a flare tower which is a tall pipe tower with a flame on top. The flare tower emits smokeless fumes of hydrocarbons by injecting steam into it.
