I felt the trip to Jurong island was a eye opener for me. It was quite educational too.I quite enjoy the bus tour around the whole island, the introduction by the giude was quite useful . I feel that i did not have enough time to examine all the exhibits at the chem gallery. Time was a bit rush as we have to do the quiz, but the Chem gallery is full fun and exciting info. The perodic table was the first thing that caught my attention when i first step into it.of The security at Jurong island was very tight, no photograpy was allow to keep a photo as memory. Jurong island is somewhat similiar to the mainland, with bus-stop, fire station and everything.

The trip to jurong island was a fun and useful trip.I hardly know there is such an island which is make up of seven islands. The security there is very strict, bags must be check before going in and a pass is needed. It is also a highly industrialised place with many company investing there. The tour around made me understand what jurong island is like. The chem gallary there is not only fun but full of educational purpose.I learn a lot in the chem gallary, how jurong island was mantain. There are also games in the gallary to let us learn from 'play'.I also learn the history of jurong island through the guide and the gallary.During my time there, i also about the distributions of oil throughout the world .Overall this is a enrichimg trip as i learn many new things.

Jurong Island is a heavy industrialized place, whcih i hardly dont't even know since it is my first time going there. it is really an enjoyable trip there to learn more about the type of industries and also to know what chemicals or stuff they produce there. Jurong Isaland thrived as most local and foreign industries are located there, it is so important to Singapore that security there is so strict, no taking of photos is allowed there. i was surprised. The place earned much of the income for Singapore, a total of 6 billions dollars a year, therefore Jurong Island is expanding to accomodate more foreign companies and factories to invest in Singapore. Singapore lack of natural resources, so man power is the vital source in Singapore, Singapore has always wanted foreign talents to help our country in developments and also industrializations, therefore for Singapore in the long run, i think that it is necessary.

The trip to jurong island was enjoyable and fruitful. We also picked up lots of information which we would be able to use in our life as chemistry students, such as the processing of certain chemicals and substances. The worksheets provided forced us to remember details as to what people did on jurong island. Jurong island is a highly secured place and it is indeed nice to go in to have a look, to see what is beyond all that security. All in all, this trip was an educational one although the time limit was too short to even absorb the information into detail. I suggest that future trips should be longer. - Shannon Lee (30)

The trip to Jurong Island was interesting and useful. It was useful in the sense that we could learn things about the way the chemical industries in Singapore works. I learnt that they used pipes to transport the products to other factories so as to save cost on transportation and other interesting stuffs about Jurong Island. The worksheet given to be completed was a good thing for us to learn and remember the things we saw and learnt from the Jurong Island trip and the Chem Gallery exhibition. Conlcluding, the trip was educational and enriching.

hey.
When the teacher said that we're going to Jurong Island, I thought that the trip would be boring and a waste of time, and that since it's going to be boring, we wouldn't remember much about it, so it wouldn't help us much when we're learning organic science in sec four. I thought we were going to some factory and to just look at how things are done there, that are related to chemistry of course.
ChemGallery
wasn't boring at all, it was interesting. But I still think that if we were to visit factories, it would be boring.
Learnt many new things from the trip, and the place was really nice and cooling. =x
The quiz made us look and read the texts on the exhibits and I probably wouldn't really read them if not for the quiz.
Enjoyed my trip to the ChemGallery. It wasn't a waste of time at all, and I've learnt to appreciate Jurong Island more.

lalala. yay. finally found the time to blog my reflections.
ok. let's see. The chem gallery was interesting. jurong island was just a land full of factories to me in the past. but after the visit, i change my point of view. i once thought that they were just factories contributing to global warming.
I WAS WRONG. lol. to be frank, i actually did not learn many things from the visit and the chem gallery. i guess it would be due to my poor memory; unable to remember much facts.
I believe that the chem gallery has lots of things there for us to learn. I just didn't catch it. Too bad for me. Overall i thought that the trip was a enriching and at the same time
FUN for most of us. haha.

The trip to jurong island had left me with some great memories and enriching experiences, jurong island is a place where no normal people could had access to, and that we could explore inside and had a tour through the whole island, it is certainly something that would not come by easily.
Through the whole trip, i gained more knowledge of not just the jurong island, and also issues concerning the industries withnin the jurong island. This allowed my knowledge to widened greatly and gained information regarding how things actually is doned and worked in jurong island.
While in the jurong island, we visited the chemgallery, which is really great and so full of fun things! Something that really caught my eye was the 3-D periodic table, it just simply brought the periodic table out of the textbook, out of the usual way we looked at it, leaving me with something new.

I find the trip to Jurong Island very useful, interesting, fun, enriching and educational. I did not know Jurong Island consist of seven island. The Chem gallery was sort of fun as there was games for us to play and the "test" made us run all over the place to look for our precious answers. I hope that we can visit Jurong Island again.

I find the trip to Jurong Island interesting and educational, although it was quite boring for the fact that we just stayed on the bus while touring the island and not getting a tour of the factories there. The Chem gallery was fun though. After an introduction by Ms Juliana, we could tour the gallery by ourselves. The worksheet helps too such that it encourages us to actually go around the gallery to look for the answers and not just sit and not doing anything. Overall, the trip was fun and educational.

The trip to jurong island is fun and -INTERESTING-.I love the periodic table there! It is all real stuffs and i finally saw natural gold, but it is just too bad we are not allowed to take photographs there. The bus ride to the exhibitions is boring and long though, people sitting at the back are unable to hear what the instructor is talking about but the trip becomes fun once we reach the chem gallery. There are lots of nice things there and even very odd games. And i learnt many interesting things and on the whole, i enjoyed the trip.-liying!

yoyoyo!!it was quite cool going to jurong island. i supposed if we would get off the bus and tour the chemical plants instead of staying on the bus and listened to the tour guide. i think it would be a better for us as an experience. the "test" given by the school was actually quite useful as we had to search for the answers in the chem gallery, and i felt that it was important for us to know what are produced by the small country and not only import materials from other countries.

The trip to Jurong Island was very educational, and I learnt a lot from this trip. I get to learn that fumes can be made smokeless by injecting steam and that crude oil extracted from the earth is made up of many compounds. I like the periodic table from the ChemGallery. So very interesting!

When we were on Jurong Island, we were given a short tour around the island. After the tour, the class went up to the ChemGallery which was quite cool. There was this periodic table with real elements inside small bottles and for the first time, I saw how some elements looked like, except for transparent gases of course. ChemGallery was interactive and there were games and quizzes for us to fill up to check our understanding. Overall, i think that this trip to Jurong Island was a enjoyable, enriching and educational one, as it will enhance our learning of organic chemistry in the future. The teachers should organise more trips like this to create interest of chemistry in students.

Actually at first I thought the trip was to be a very boring one. But I guess I was pretty wrong because I sort of enjoyed the trip after all. The tour around the Jurong Island was actually quite dry and factual but the Chem Gallery was a very fun place to visit. We bascially went around the whole of the Chem Gallery looking for answers to the questions given because Mrs Yue said it was to be sort of a class test. I have to say that the trip was real educational and i guess it sort of brought us that one bit closer to chemistry, all because we got to realise that chemistry is actually so inter-linked to our daily lives. And it was pretty amazing that this so called "chemistry island" actually exists so close to us. Truth is that I actually learnt quite a fair bit and have had an equal amount of fun. To me it is quite a nice place to visit and also a very fun place to go to for the Chen Gallery. Therfore on the whole the whole trip was pretty beneficial and fun as the whole class sort of played around together. So all in all the trip was great.

holaa! (:28th may 2007.
three-two visited JURONG ISLAND.I thought that the trip was not a waste, but yet an educational one.Despite being a very small country, Singapore managed to amalgamate a group of seven small islands off the southwestern coast of Singapore into a single island. Today, Jurong Island has a size of 3200 hectares! Impressive... :DI love the visit to CHEM GALLERY.I find the Periodic Table interesting as there are real elements in the small jars.Crawling through the Discovery Tunnel was indeed a fun one (I wished the tunnel was longer though). Also, there are structures of certain things that can be found in Jurong Island, such as the flare tower, and the tank (with long stairs).Thank you Ms. Juliana (sorry if I got it wrong) and also;Mrs Yue and Ms Kokila!I hope that more field trips will be organized; to make pupils more interested in studying chemistry; or even other subjects :Dproduction of: Siti Nur Atiqah (16), of class 3/2 '07 :D :D :D

I felt the trip to Jurong island was very brief and if it was possible I would like to go back again to explore and look at the things I missed in the chem gallery. All we did on the island was have a tour on the bus, watch an introduction of Jurong island and do a quiz about the things we have learnt. I feel that i did not have enough time to examine all the exhibits at the chem gallery.
The security at Jurong island was very tight, like the immigration checkpoint at Tuas. Which begs the question, are there military bases on the island? During the bus journey, i noticed that Jurong island is not all that different from the mainland. I expected it to be dark and gloomy due to all the factories there. However the only difference i noticed between the mainland and Jurong island was it had no HDB blocks. I guess i expected there would be more pollution.

The trip to Jurong Island is an educational one.
FIrst, i learn so much things which i never knew.
For example, Jurong Island has such a high security.
It just remind of checking into the airport for deperature.
Besides this, it is quite interesting to know that Jurong Island is made up of 7 islands.
Chem- Gallery is one of the most exciting things there!
I never knew that Periodic table can be made in this way, by producing all the different elements out and putting them into small jars.
It is very meaningful and i learnt about the various type of factories which produce different things there.
I hope we will have more of such trips!

There are alot of things in this world that we do not know & does not know that it exists.
A good example is the Jurong Island.
Yes, i know that it existed, but i never knew what it does. Not to say, how it functions.
Indeed, this trip to Jurong Island made me realise that there are still many things for us to explore, many things installed for us.
Now that i've been to there, i realised that Singapore's economy does not solely depend on us.
I was mesmerised by the tanks & structures there; i thought it was rather cool.
I would say the trip was a constructive one & i would like to have more of this in future.
A good source of education, definitely a fun one too.

This learning journey to Jurong Island, a chemistry industry, was indeed a memorable one. I cannot believe that i could have a chance to visit this island in Singapore. From this trip, i've gained lots of knowledge about Jurong Island.
In the past, i knew that Jurong Island does exist but i do not really know what's the use of Jurong Island. Now, i knew the seven islands which made up Jurong Island (Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kecil, Pulau Sakra and Pulau Seraya).
The chemgallery there also enables us to learn many new things which are not in school syllabus. The 3D periodic table was fabulous! It allows me to see the real element inside.
This trip was very educational for us. I believe most of us had enjoyed ourselves there. I hope that there will be more of this type of learning journey for us, instead of normal lessons.

The learning journey to JURONG ISLAND was enriching and beneficial for me.
I never knew JURONG ISLAND was filled with so many factories set up by companies to produce stuffs like crude oil.
I never knew that they used pipes to transport the products to other factories so as to save cost on transportation.
I never knew that the flare tower emits smokeless fumes by injecting steam.
I never knew that JURONG ISLAND is made up of seven islands.
I never knew that JURONG ISLAND has 2 fire stations, and there'll be another one on the way.
I never knew that there was a CHEMGALLERY for us to visit and learn.
That's why i say, this trip was educational as I know alot now.
I hope there'll be more of learning journeys for us. I feel that the CHEMGALLERY provides lots of information about JURONG ISLAND, for example it tells us what is a flare tower.
In conclusion, JURONG ISLAND is very cool. bye bye.

After this trip,
I get to know that pipes are used to transport the products by different companies to cut down the cost on transportation.
I also get to learn that fumes can be made smokeless by injecting steam.
The periodic table at the Chem gallery is really interesting as I get to see how the elements look like.
I think the trip will be more beneficial if we visit Juong Island after being taught by teachers more on organic chemistry as we'll be able to ask more about what that cannot be learnt from the textbook and have a better understanding of what the guide was trying to talk about.

HEYHEYHEY!
Jurong island was educational.
I can't say it was VERY fun.
but overall.
i enjoyed it.
the guide was nice and i really learnt alot.
i think this trip to Jurong island can help us to understand more about what is going on in Singapore.
Previously,
i didn't know how crude oil was made up of so many different compounds!
I also didn't know that they injected steam into the flare tower so that the fumes would be smokeless!
So, now we (3/2 and all the other classes that went to Jurong Island) know that even though the main contributer of greenhouse gases is smoke that comes from factories, the people who work in factories are doing a part to help overcome this problem!
All in all,
this trip was interesting, and i hope we have more trips like these instead of the normal lessons we have.
